Great Film: The Machinist (Maquinista, El)
F**king Brilliant!
Wow! What a ride, what a movie. I can't help but think Christian Bale
deserves better, MUCH better. He already deserved much more credit for
Laurel Canyon. He's definitely on my list of brilliant actors now.
I don't want to give away the story, but if you liked Memento or Amores
Perros you'll get some sense of the style of story telling: gritty,
brooding, shocking.
Trevor Reznik (CB) has not been able to sleep for a year and starts
seeing things. Is it just him? Nobody else seems to notice. Past and
present merge into one and somebody is leaving him strange messages.
His only sanity check seems to be his (bought) girl friend Stevie
(extraordinary performance by Jennifer Jason Leigh). Slowly and
gradually his search to comprehend what is happening leads him to only
one conclusion: I know who you are!
Please don't take my word for it: go see for yourself. You will agree:
f**king brilliant!
